As someone who typically enjoys iThings, HomeKit has to be one my least favorite things they've got.
Absolutely no way to properly set your Home Hub meaning that your devices all talk to a HomePod mini that lives on the opposite side of the house despite also having a brand new bells and whistle Apple TV 4K with Thread support (sure, it lives in the basement but it's not THAT far away from everything else. Also, when it isn't on the HomePod mini HomeKit likes to use a 1st gen HomePod as the Hub, making things even slower). Needless to say things take a good 2 seconds to actually propagate (on a good day, the lag is sometimes longer).
Debating buying another one of those $150 Apple TVs and placing it smack dab in the middle of the house just to hopefully solve a problem that I shouldn't have. Let me pick my Home Hub, Apple.
